  • Session 2: November 7th – December 28th

Our intro to acting class is a great place to begin when exploring the world of acting. In this class, you will learn how to break down a scene, create a character, and make clear and effective choices that will propel you forward in the story.

We encourage our students to be fearless. Acting is all about confidence. When the walls of insecurity come down, the students allow room for creativity and the transformation into different characters for the stage, film, and TV.

Our philosophy at the Victor Cruz Acting Studio is to encourage students to be fearless and to be the very best within themselves. Our environments are warm and positive.  We don’t believe in instilling fear to get the best results. Instead, we share the tools necessary to excel in the craft of acting with clarity and confidence.

8 Week Intro to Acting Classes

The curriculum for our 8-week course covers building confidence, writing original monologues and performing them, scene breakdown, and character development. At the end of the 8-week course, students will participate in a showcase where they have the opportunity to share original works from class.

  • Weeks 1 – 4

LEARN HOW TO APPROACH THE MONOLOGUE. We will kick off this course with an icebreaker that involves improvising stories and acting them out. Students will then be given prompts to create their first original monologue. During the first class, students will get a chance to read them and put the pieces on their feet for the very first time. During our 2nd class, students will have a week with the material and now they will perform them with a lot more familiarity and confidence. Notes will be shared, and a new prompt will be given to students to create a new monologue.

  • Weeks 5 – 6

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. We will take the 2nd monologue created and explore the moments in a scene. The moment before the character enters, what the character wants and how they will get what they want. Students will be given a new prompt, and a new monologue will be created.

  • Weeks 7 – 8

INTRODUCTION TO SCENE WORK.
Students will get a good glimpse into what it takes to mount and execute a scene. The scene will be provided by the studio.
