Acting Classes

The Victor Cruz Acting Studio offers two sessions Beginner and Intermediate in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Beginner Lessons

In the beginning, we’re curious, we’re afraid, we’re nervous, we feel anxiety, and we feel a tad unsure. Especially for those of us who once acted and decided to take a longer break than expected for whatever reason, but have now returned to our one true love, acting. The one thing that rings true for all of us is that burning desire to act, to play different characters, to be the vessel for what the writer envisioned in their hearts and in their minds. We crave it and for some of us, we know nothing else. There is no “Plan B”. We decided long ago that we were going to be actors, and have chosen to commit to that very thing.

For those of us that feel scared and terrified to jump into the pool entirely, but instead touch it’s surface with our toes, I encourage you to jump in. Go back in time, to that place when you were a child with no fear, no worries and no limits. Go back in time, deep within your heart and honor that child that you once were. Give yourself a chance and don’t let fear steal your spotlight. It’s so easy to do, but instead, face your fear, stand up to it, and tell it the truth. You must act!

During the beginner course at the Victor Cruz Acting Studio you will learn the basics of acting. For some of you, the basics isn’t a new thing, but an opportunity to revisit the place that was once yours. In the beginning, we will spend a great deal of time with you, the individual. Diving deep into who you are and re-discovering your confidence, power, and self-worth. Then, we begin to develop the tools necessary to create characters and execute scenes & monologues through a process of creating original work.

By the end of this course, you will have a very good understanding of what it takes to be an actor while also learning a great deal about yourself.

Intermediate Lessons

Once you begin the journey of tapping into your true voice we begin tackling the acting work from a more confident place. It’s not to say that we no longer get nervous, afraid or question ourselves, but the only difference is, is that that feeling of insecurity will not consume you the way that it did in the past. Instead, you will have a firmer grip on it and you will be in a place where you can begin exploring the work of an actor, not from a place of fear, but from a place of strength.

Too often, actors go out to auditions, they prepare at home, but when they arrive to the casting room, they begin to adjust their choices, because they somehow think that they know what the casting director is thinking. Not possible, unless they’ve revealed that information to you voluntarily before your began to speak.

In this next level, I teach you how to take control of that room, be empowered, inspired while leaving a major impression with the men and women behind that table. I tell my students all the time, do not focus on booking the job at hand, instead focus on leaving a strong impression. The loving people in that room will never forget you.
